4:00 in the Morning

Yes, it's 3:55am and Spencer and I are of course sound asleep, when suddenly our doorbell rings. I heard it in my sleep and then it rang again. Spencer jumped out of bed and I grabbed his arm and told him not to answer the door. The doorbell kept ringing and then the ringing turned into pounding on the door. We both looked out of the windows sneakily and couldn't see anything. Spencer then snuck down the stairs to take a look out of the peep hole while I continued to look out the windows to see if I could see anyone. No one. Not even through the peep hole. They were clearly hiding from us.
Meanwhile, the pounding and ringing is still going on and we still can't see anyone, so Spencer decides to call the police. He gets the dispatcher on the phone and tells the lady what's going on and she verifies our address and all that stuff and asks Spencer on the phone if whoever it is, is trying to get inside the house. At first this person wasn't, but all of the sudden I heard the person turn the doorknob. Spencer asks the dispatcher if he needs to get a weapon and the dispatcher says "No, don't get a weapon, the cops will be there within about 60 seconds." Then we could see their lights flashing at the intersection by our house and they pulled sneakily into the neighborhood and blared their lights right on our front porch. The dispatcher told us not to answer the door until the cop knocked on our door. I was still watching out the window from our bedroom (top floor) and as soon as they shined their lights on our doorstep, I saw some lady who looked like she might be in her late 20's start dizzily walking away and trying to walk away from the cops. She was completely wasted! Whether it be drugs or alcohol, she was not all there. I didn't recognize her either. We opened the door when the cops knocked and I could hear this lady out there yelling, and arguing saying she "thought she was at house 457, and she could swear she was at the right house, etc."
The cops took down our names & phone number and said they'd be right back after talking to this lady and we waited about 30 minutes while they did their thing outside. It turns out, they never came back to tell us what the crap this lady was doing! I did see them haul her off somewhere but that was the last of it. It was definitely the most intense thing I've ever experienced. I mean, who would open the door to someone at 4:00 in the morning if you don't know who it is? It could have been some big guy with a weapon or something. Especially, since no one was calling our cell phones, we didn't think it was an emergency but who knows?! Well, we couldn't go back to sleep after that one.

Sophie's Heaven

The Sun comes beaming through our windows onto the couch or our bed and Sophie is literally in heaven. This helps us forget that she didn't get exercise the day prior because all of the sudden she becomes the perfect dog when the Sun is shining in.

Snow Day

Why can't Utah have Snow day's, where if it snows an inch, the whole town shuts down and everyone plays in the snow?! It's just not fair that we have to caravan around in this crap. I remember earlier this year there was a "Winter Storm Warning" where everyone panicked and stayed in for the night; my work even closed the next day! but the storm turned out to be a dud. Then about 2 weeks later we got a HUGE storm and not as big of a warning but work stayed open and it was not fun.
Here is our cute neighbor Caleb
Caleb's dad Chris (Spencer's fishing friend), Spencer, & Sophie

Fly Fishing 1

Spencer is SO glad he found a hobby to enjoy during the Winter. Yesterday he told me that if it weren't for this Winter hobby of his, we would have been moving to Arizona or somewhere warm. I wouldn't complain because I don't like the winter at all! Spencer has been Fly Fishing and is obsessed. It started around Halloween of last year when his friend Colter showed him a Fly rod that he made; they spent around 2 hours in the street practicing casting and Spencer was set to buy one. He's mostly been fishing the Prove River, practicing at the Sandy pond, & I think once this Winter he and Colter went to the Weber. I have yet to come on one of these excursions but I figure that I will wait for the Summer when I can sit in a folding chair in the sun, and read a good book while he shows off his tricks :) I don't know how they can stand being in this freezing weather! It sure is beautiful though.

Kobe Cho Sushi

We got a gift certificate to this sushi place called Kobe Cho in Salt Lake City and little did we know that it's the home of the "Hellfire Challenge." If you don't know what that is, click here: http://www.kobechosushi.com/2010/06/the-hell-fire-challenge/. This place had the Travel Channel TV show Man vs. Food come out and try their challenge! It was funny because Spencer and I had no idea about this "challenge", and someone actually did the challenge and won while we were eating our dinner! He looked like he might have gone straight to the hospital afterward because it's so hot and he was probably about to die. You even have to sign a waiver before you start. I wouldn't recommend this place really because the service was TERRIBLE and the food wasn't very good either. It was super authentic Japanese food. It didn't even look like American food when they brought it out, like the noodles in the lo-mein looked weird! Oh and if you win the challenge, you get your picture taken and hung on the wall, and a t-shirt. Lame prize!

Snow Boots or Torture Boots?

Sophie has been getting bloody paws when she plays in the snow. We're not exactly sure what's causing it but we decided to get her some boots. She HATES them. It's almost like as soon as they go on, her spirit gets sucked right out of her! She won't even move and then as soon as they come off, she acts like she wants to tear them to shreds in 2 seconds! However, it is completely hilarious to watch her walk in them because she looks like she's trying to walk for the first time! Here is a picture of her wearing them for the first time, it took some coaxing to get her to stand up. I tried to upload a video but blogger is too slow.

Happy New Year!

I feel like New Year's Eve is never as fun as it should be... I mean.. what is there to even do? My sister's both couldn't come because they were sick but we still had fun playing games, blowing horns, and eating lots of really yummy food with my parents, DeAnn, Emily & Brandon! Oh and Sophie..
I guess we can call this our New Year's Resolution.... running to get into shape! By the way, it was about 8 degree's outside when we ran. WAY cold!

Sophie didn't know what to think of the blow horns.. haha!
